Tommy Little has shared a major update after his co-host Carrie Bickmore was forced off-air over a health issue.
Bickmore has had nearly a month away from the show after telling fans she had a voice issue that meant she had to go radio silent.
“My voice hasn’t been right for some time. I went to the ENT (doctor) this morning and it’s in a very bad way . . . as you can hear!,” she said on the Carrie & Tommy Show on May 18.
“Things are not good, so I’m going to have to take some time off work to get it fixed. If I don’t get it fixed now, they (vocal cords) will be permanently damaged, which will be very unfortunate for my job . . .”
The Gold Logie winner was visibly emotional after admitting she felt a sense of responsibility to her fans and feared letting them down.
“I also really love my job and don’t want to be forced not to ever do it again! I’m taking a little bit of time off to get it fixed. I’m hoping that if I get onto it now, it will be a non-permanent thing.”
But in a promising sign at the top of Friday’s show, Little shared that fill-in host Loren Barry’s services would no longer be required.
“You have been so amazing, filling in for the Queen herself, Carrie Bickmore, on this show,” Little said.
“It saddens me to say that our time together is coming to an end, not our friendship, that’s been decades. Carrie’s coming back, so never call me again.
“Carrie, in great news, her voice is on the mend, and she’ll be back with us on Monday, which is fantastic. We can’t wait to have her back.”
