Bluey has reached a huge milestone in the US, proving how insanely popular the cartoon blue heeler is with American families.

The latest Nielsen ratings, which ranks TV and streaming services, showed Bluey has been viewed for an astonishing 1.5 billion minutes.

Bluey streams on Disney Plus in the US and led the ratings survey, from January 15 to 21.

It has proven to be a record week in the US Nielsen Ratings’ four-year history, with seven shows drawing more than one billion minutes of viewing each.

Others reaching the milestone include Prime Video spy thriller Reacher with 1.23 billion minutes watched, Netflix’ Fool Me Once with 1.06 billion and the streamer’s heist movie Lift, which grew by 19 per cent week to reach 1.04 billion minutes.

Rounding out the big-hitters were Young Sheldon (1.16 billion minutes), American Nightmare (1.12 billion) and Grey’s Anatomy (1.09 billion).

Bluey has enjoyed enormous success since launching in America back in 2019.

In 2023 it was the second-most-streamed TV show in the US according to Nielsen ratings, beaten only by Suits, which American audiences viewed on Netflix for 57.7 billion minutes that year.

Nielsen’s streaming ratings calculate viewing numbers on TV sets only and don’t tally up minutes watched on computers or mobile devices.
