From the dirt to the harbour, WA’s famous truffles are set to star in the upcoming Fremantle Truffle Festival which will take over the port city from July 10 to 12.

Expanding on 2025’s sell-out Truffle Extravaganza, the 2026 iteration invites local restaurants, bars and venues residing in Freo’s heritage heart to embrace the culinary treasure.

Mainstay vendors Eggspot will offer a Truffle Brioche Burger among other unique creations, with Emily Taylor serving up truffle-inspired dumplings, and Anglesea doing truffle cocktails.

Little Creatures is even set to deliver a five-course truffle-based set menu, with venue representative Mel Jacobs suggesting the seasonal ingredient presents “an incredible opportunity to create memorable dining experiences”.

Fremantle Markets traders are also encouraged to get creative, with visitors to delight in novelty menu items as they weave between stalls.

Near the markets on Henderson Street, a large-scale Truffle House marquee will offer tastings, cooking demonstrations, artisan products and premium truffle goods from Great Southern Truffles.

Adam Wilson, Managing Director of Great Southern Truffles, said a growing appetite for premium WA produce was behind the expanded exhibition.

“Western Australian truffles are recognised among the finest in the world and the Fremantle Truffle Festival has become a fantastic platform to showcase that quality,” he said.

“This year’s expansion allows us to bring the truffle experience to more people than ever before, creating opportunities to taste, learn and engage with this remarkable product in a variety of settings.”

Even highly trained sniffer dogs await attendees, with an agility course to display their speed, skill, and acute sense of smell.

With so much on offer, Chrissie Maus, CEO of the Fremantle Chamber of Commerce, said the event would activate the local economy during the winter months.

“This is no longer simply a festival at the Fremantle Markets. It has evolved into a city-wide celebration that invites visitors to explore Fremantle’s restaurants, bars, accommodation providers, retailers and unique visitor experiences,” Ms Maus said.

“The economic impact extends well beyond the truffle itself. Events like this drive visitation, encourage overnight stays, support local jobs and create opportunities for businesses across the city to share in the benefits.”

Fremantle Truffle Festival is set to take place July 10 to 12.
