7NEWS Perth has cemented its unrivalled position as the place West Australians turn to for television news, with a remarkable increase to its loyal viewership.
Nearing the midpoint of 2026, the 7NEWS Perth audience has surged 20 per cent year-on-year, with an average of 191,000 people tuning in across WA each night.
The ratings lift comes after news presenters Angela Tsun and Tim McMillan stepped into anchoring bulletins from Sunday to Wednesday, while much loved presenters Susannah Carr and Rick Ardon remain on the news desk from Thursday to Saturday — helping lift the weekend numbers.
The surge at Seven also comes as local audiences abandoned 9News in Perth, which this month shed 10 per cent of its audience compared with the same period last year.
West Australians have also turned to 7 Perth in droves for its AFL coverage, with a massive 41 per cent increase in the past year.

Fuelling the increase is the success of local teams — with flag favourites Fremantle Dockers in scintillating form — and home games largely being called live and free by Seven Perth’s local AFL coverage team, now in their second year.
Led by 7NEWS sport presenter Ryan Daniels alongside Mark Readings, Sonny Walters, Shaun McManus, Ben Cousins, Dani Shuey and Mark LeCras, the team is unmatched in their intimate knowledge of the two local teams, their home ground and the nuances of WA football.
7NEWS Perth news director Christien de Garis said his team worked incredibly hard to deliver the news people needed.
“7NEWS Perth values the generations of West Australians who turn to us to find out what is happening in their State and every day we work hard to deliver the information they have a right to know,” he said.
“Our team is always striving to bring you the stories you should know.”
