Denmark surf sensation Isi Campbell is chasing a ticket onto the big stage, competing in the WA trials this week with a place in the Margaret River Pro on the line.

Campbell will take on some of WA’s top surfers on Friday at Surfers Point in Margaret River, where a single stand-out performance could secure her a wildcard entry into the World Surf League Championship Tour’s WA Margaret River Pro.

The trials have 12 men and 12 women battling it out in Margaret River’s powerful surfing conditions for a direct pathway into one of the biggest stops on the global surfing calendar.

One male and one female will earn the golden opportunity to compete alongside the world’s best in WA.

Surfers were selected based on their performances over the past 12 months across the WSL World Qualifying Series, State titles, speciality events and nominations from local board riders clubs.

Surfing WA has been working closely with the World Surf League to ensure the WA trials allow maximum opportunity for local surfers to compete.

Surfing WA has created the Pathway to the Pro where surfers are able to qualify for these trials through a variety of events.

The pathway gives incredible surfers coming out of WA the chance to compete at the elite level on the WSL Championship Tour.

Surfing WA chief executive Matt Wilson said this pathway provided incredible opportunities for WA surfers.

“WA has an incredible depth of surfing talent, and this pathway ensures our surfers have genuine opportunities to progress from local competition right through to the championship tour,” he said.

Fans could expect to see some familiar faces in the waters off Margaret River, including former Championship Tour surfer Bronte Macaulay (Margaret River), and 2025 Challenger Series surfer Willow Hardy (Margaret River) who earned the women’s wildcard into last year’s Pro.

Other competitors to watch include the 2026 Open Men’s State Champion Macklin Flynn (Cowaramup) as well as Okie Fraser (Margaret River), Jack Thomas (Yallingup) and Mia McCarthy (Margaret River).
