Margaret River Primary School will hold a fundraiser next weekend at Colonial Brewery for its kitchen garden program.

Organiser Cate Worsley said last year’s fundraiser helped the school build a garden shed to store equipment.

“The event was a success and with money made at the event, plus generous donations from the Lions, the Rotary and additional P and C funds, we now have a fabulous shed that was constructed over the summer break,” she said.

“We now need to raise money to kit out the interior, some benches for the kids to sit on, etc.

“We also need funds to replace broken items in the kitchen, to touch up a damaged mural, repair the worm farms, and for the ongoing maintenance of the program.

“It is a community event and all are very welcome, not just school families.”

Mrs Worsley said her older children had gone through the primary school and their participation in the kitchen garden program was invaluable.

“I have seen its amazing benefit and it’s what’s kept me wanting to keep the garden going,” she said.

Entry to the fundraiser is by gold coin donation and activities would include music by The Formidable Vegetable Sound System.

The event runs from 4-8pm on Sunday, March 11.
