Big gig in aid of animals
The River hotel is staging a bushfire fundraiser on Sunday afternoon featuring some of the region’s best local acts.
Dan White from Blue Child Collective said money raised would help the World Wildlife Fund Australia to assist animals injured in the east coast bushfires. He organised the show after seeing the success of similar events.
“It’s been incredible watching the country band together in support of those affected by the fires on the east coast, which have burnt an area the size of Austria,” he said.
“There are so many different areas in which funds are needed to assist, and the money raised from this concert will go to WWF Australia to help care for and rehabilitate the billion-plus animals which have been affected by the fires.”
Apart from White’s solo performance the line-up includes Luke Fox, James Abberley and Askya, and DJs including Boston Switch.
The show begins at 2pm at the licensed premises and prizes worth more than $8000 will be raffled.
Local businesses have volunteered prizes including a 10-day surf trip with Indo Surfaris valued at $3500, an $800 Joel Fitzgerald surfboard, and a free-diving course.
