Boy hit by car in Rosa Brook still in critical condition in Perth Children’s Hospital

An 11-year-old boy is fighting for life in hospital after being hit by a vehicle at a caravan park in Rosa Brook near Margaret River. The Times understands the boy was riding his bicycle at Big Valley Caravan Park around 5pm when he was hit by a motorist. He was transferred by rescue helicopter to Gloucester Park in Margaret River where medical staff joined the flight on to Perth Children’s Hospital. He arrived just before 10pm last night. A hospital spokesman told The West Australian on Tuesday the boy was in a critical but stable condition. Local police and paramedics rushed to the scene as soon as the alert was sounded. A St John WA spokesperson confirmed paramedics were called shortly before 6pm. The boy was flown to the Perth Children’s Hospital with what has been described as “extremely serious injuries”. Police were still investigating how the incident unfolded. The Times understands the boy and his family were visiting the region as part of school holidays. South West police Superintendent Geoff Stewart said all care and attention was being taken. “We’re assisting the family and the like, but just trying to find out what exactly happened, and fingers crossed and everything are crossed for the family to get through this,” Supt Stewart said.
