Bushfire advice issued for Kudardup

A bushfire advice has been issued for parts of Kudardup in the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River.

Firefighters are actively fighting the fire, with 12 bushfire service firefighters in attendance.

The fire was reported at 1:56pm today and has so far burnt 1ha.

The fire is moving in a south easterly direction, and is contained but not controlled.

The current wind direction is north westerly.

There is no threat to lives or homes at present.

All people in the area bounded by Wilson Road to the south, Glenarty Road to the east, Twenty Four Road to the north and Vansittart Road to the west are told to stay alert and monitor their surroundings in case the situation changes.

Motorists have been asked to avoid the area, but anyone who must drive through the area are advised to turn their headlights on and drive slowly.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has advised people to watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames, as well as close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system if possible.
