Dressage series to start
The Margaret River and Districts Horseman’s Association and Pony Club will hold the first event of a three-part dressage series on Sunday.
Riders from Margaret River, Busselton, Bunbury and Dardanup would gain points from the weekend’s event, as well as the April 8 and October 7 series events, with championship presentations after the October event.
Competitive divisions range from Pony Club Kids to Federation Equestrian International elite level.
Up-and-coming riders would be exposed to quality competition and judging in preparation for State and national level events.
The weekend’s dressage event would also act as a qualifying round for the 2018 South West Dressage Horse of the Year.
Margaret River was strongly represented at the 2017 SWDHOTY, including Penny Lee wining the novice champion sash with horse Landaluka, Gerline Watson and horse Merool Magnifique winning reserve participant champion, and Zoe Wagner on Carisbrooke Beckett winning reserve preliminary champion.
The event would take place at Nippers Oval from 8.30am on Sunday, with coffee vans and a canteen available for spectators.
