Residents and holiday-goers in Augusta will get an early Christmas gift with the re-opening of the Ellis Street Jetty.

WA’s Department of Transport last week finished its upgrade ahead of schedule.

Coastal facilities director Donna West said the major refurbishment would “ensure continued long-term use by the local community and others”.

The October project was backed by the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River and cost $400,000.

The 1984-built jetty has been re-decked, strengthened, and had 90 per cent of the structure replaced to combat erosion.
