A Cowaramup family lost their home as part of Monday night’s storm damage. Monica and Sean Sutton and their two young children were safe and sound after the ordeal which saw the roof ripped off and the house partially demolished at around 4am on Tuesday morning. The day after the damage, Ms Sutton said the family, which includes their three- and five-year-old children, were desperately on the hunt for alternative accommodation. “Kills me to put this up and out there, but desperate times calls for desperate measures,” Ms Sutton posted online. “We are now without a home for at least three months until it’s rebuilt. “We are locals to Cowaramup. “We have two beautiful kids, five and three, and to make matters worse, my five-year-old has a broken leg.” But less than 24 hours later, in a Facebook post, Ms Sutton said community help secured the family interim accommodation. “The support we have received is truly remarkable,” she said. “This community is just simply beautiful.” Ms Sutton told the Times it was “A bit chaotic here right now, but we will get through it.” The disaster comes as the region also faces an unprecedented rental shortage.
