Fine fare on Gourmet Village menu
The Gourmet Village will return to Leeuwin Estate Winery this weekend as part of the Margaret River Gourmet Escape.
Open from 11am-6pm tomorrow and on Sunday, the village offers the chance to sample food, wine, beer, cider and produce from the region, and brush shoulders with culinary heavyweights such as Nigella Lawson, Rick Stein, Skye Gyngell and Ashley Palmer-Watts.
Lawson, who is returning for her second year, said it was hard to resist the “extraordinary combination of outstanding natural beauty, wonderful food and produce and excellent wine”.
“I’m excited about being part of that very special community of people who love food, and to be able to celebrate that in such a glorious landscape,” she said.
“I love the Gourmet Escape crowd. It’s like hanging out with warm, like-minded people who create such an upbeat and joyous atmosphere.”
This year’s schedule has a range of new events including gin masterclasses, a battle of the breweries, half-hour classes on the importance of food and community for all ages, wine tastings with Nick Stock, book signings and more.
There will be 25 satellite events around the region from today until Sunday, 12 fringe events, and more pop-up events and activities within the Gourmet Village.
There are more than 70 artisan producers exhibiting at the village, and 10 pop-up restaurants by Amelia Park, Bao Wow, Bar Felix (Vasse Felix), Brika, Caves Road Collective, MaLa Dumplings, Rustico at Hayshed Hill, Lavash by Sam’s Foodie Goods (MasterChef finalist Samira Damirova), The Gourmet Fried Chicken Bar, and Xanadu.
The full line-up of Gourmet Village attractions, restaurants, artisan producers, as well as information on tickets and transport options, is available at gourmetescape.com.au.
