This year’s Margaret River Region Open Studios will hold a special art dinner at Leeuwin Estate. Scheduled for September 11, the inaugural dinner will offer a night of fine wine, food, art and music in the tranquil surrounds of the Leeuwin Estate’s art gallery. A selection of respected Open Studios artists have each provided art experiences that will be up for auction, with money raised going to the not-for-profit event, including an exclusive printmaking experience with renowned artist Leon Pericles. The dinner includes canapes and sparkling wine, three courses and matched Leeuwin Estate wines. Veteran glassblower Gerry Reilly will share some entertaining stories of his artistic journey and local swing band Doxy will provide the dance tunes. Open Studios chairman Jim Davies said the dinner was nearly sold out. “We have some incredible money-can’t-buy auction experiences from Leon Pericles, Gerry Reilly, Ian Mutch, Adam Ashdown and more,” he said. “All the signs are that this year’s event will be our biggest ever and with the largest number of artists and the most diverse mix of mediums, it’s going to be great. “We urge locals to get behind the 16-day event. If you see an Open Studios sign on the road, pop in and visit the artist, and get to know them and discover their work.” Tickets are $220 per person or $2200 for a table of 10, with numbers limited.
