Fire deputy resigns post

Augusta Margaret River Times

The Shire of Augusta-Margaret River’s deputy chief bushfire control officer has resigned his post.

The Times understands former Wallcliffe Volunteer Bushfire Brigade captain Brett Trunfull — a veteran of the 2011 bushfires — tendered the resignation last week.

Wallcliffe and fellow volunteer brigade Rosa Brook recently won approval to discuss transfer of administration to the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, but a recent Bushfire Advisory Committee meeting late last month saw a 5-2 vote asking councillors to reverse those decisions.

Mr Trunfull declined to comment, while Shire community emergency services manager Adam Jasper said interim arrangements would be disclosed when finalised.
