Forum on wine plan

Augusta Margaret River Times

The region’s wine community is invited to a public forum on Wednesday to discuss the proposed establishment of a Wilyabrup wine sub-region.

The application was lodged by local wineries Cullen Wines, Wood-land Estate, Fraser Gallop Estate, Mood Wood and Lenton Brae.

Margaret River Wine Association’s Amanda Whiteland, whose position was recently retitled to chief executive officer, said the industry group did not have a view on the proposal and was not involved in the application.

“MRWA does not have a final position yet as we need to canvass our members for their views after they have had an opportunity to review the application,” she said.

Wine Australia will lead a seminar on the geographical indication bid on Wednesday morning, starting at 9am, at Stays Margaret River.

Attendees were asked to RSVP. Contact 9757 9330 for more information.
