Gracetown memorial event to make waves

Cowaramup Bay Boardriders will host the 22nd SunSmart Gracetown Grommets competition in memory of the nine lives lost in the 1996 Gracetown cliff collapse.

The event will take place on Sunday at North Point.

The event attracts young surfers from the Capes region and metropolitan areas who compete across three age divisions.

Boardriders Lucas Englert said the competition had a rich history in the area and he hoped the weekend would bring excellent conditions.
