Grommets from the Capes region will head to Mandurah this weekend to compete at the second WA Junior Surfing Titles.

Cowaramup Bay Boardriders’ Jed and Ben Gradisen, Finn Cox and Seth Van Haeften will be surfers to keep an eye on in the blue ribbon under-18 boys’ division after impressive performances at the opening event in Margaret River in March. The boys dominated their heat, leaving no placing for surfers from other regions.

Yallingup’s Emma Cattlin and Margaret River’s Jamaica Selby and Arabelle Gibson will headline an impressive field of females at the event. Cattlin proved she was a force to be reckoned with in round 1, claiming victory in the under-18 girls’ final, followed by Selby.

Small swells are forecast for the weekend, with action to start at 7.30am tomorrow at Avalon Point or Pyramids Beach.

Finn Cox placed third in the under-18 junior boys’ division in round one.
