The annual LiveLighter Augusta River Festival returns on Sunday for a packed day of family entertainment on the Blackwood River foreshore.

The festival has been running for more than 20 years, and familiar attractions will include the drink-can regatta, a fireworks display, stallholders, dance performances and music.

Capes musicians Oversize, Doug and Cletus, The Frothers, Horizon Shine, Brayden Sibbald and Jay Le Kat will take to the stage throughout the day, along with many more music acts.

The Blackwood Dance Company will perform a routine for event-goers, and a “Pirates n Fairies Fashion Show” is on the cards.

Organiser Doug Thompson said the event was coming together smoothly.

“We have a few new people on our committee, and that’s been a fantastic help,” he said.

“There’s a whole pile of new acts for families to look forward to this year. We have more than 70 stalls and all-day entertainment.

“There is a $2000 prize up for grabs for our drink-can regatta, where boats made from recycled bottles and cans will take to the river.”

Mr Thompson said the committee planned a fireworks display for 8pm Sunday.

The event is smoke-free.
