The region’s peak tourism body has confirmed it will partner with the Undalup Association to deliver future events. Margaret River-Busselton Tourism Association chair Stuart Hicks used last week’s 3000 Generations and the Next One event at the Margaret River Heart to confirm the Undalup Association had asked the tourism group to get on board. “Undalup Association has invited MRBTA to join the delivery team for its 2025 Bunuru festival event, which promotes and champions Wadandi culture, and demonstrates how to listen to and care for country,” Mr Hicks said. The importance of Indigenous culture, as well as the role for those stories within tourism, was part of MRBTA’s decision to help deliver last week’s public talk by elder Wayne Webb. “We recognise that MRBTA is part of this community and has a role to play in it,” Mr Hicks said. “Through our Capes Foundation division, we are committed to sustaining and building on the values this place holds dear — cultural, social, environmental, heritage, economic, and of course, the 60,000 years of Wadandi custodianship of this special place.” The Undalup Association did not respond to inquiries before deadline.
