Movie night on the green doubles as fundraiser
Keen movie goers have the chance for a great night out later this month, while also supporting a good cause — helping the local environment.
Nature Conservation Margaret River Region is holding its annual outdoor movie fundraising event at Cape Mentelle on Wednesday, February 13.
French wine-themed movie Back to Burgundy by respected director Cedric Klapisch is the official selection, exploring the lives of three siblings who return to their ancestral vineyard amid a family crisis.
Nature Conservation chairman Dr Boyd Wykes said the movie night was a popular and easy way to show support for the region’s premier environment group.
“We need the community involved in nature conservation,” he said.
“We get grants for particular projects, but the basis for us being here is community support.
“This year’s film fits in very well with what we all love about Margaret River with the Cape Mentelle French connection.”
Apart from French cinema, patrons have the chance to catch up on the latest Nature Conservation news, while food and wine will flow, and outdoor games including petanque will be available, as always.
Local band Doxy will also spruce up the evening with French-themed music, and attendees were encouraged to “dress French” for the night.
Gates open 6pm for the 7.30pm screening.
