Rapids Landing Primary School was officially opened by Education Minister Sue Ellery on Tuesday morning.

Associate principal Hayley Kirup welcomed local members of Parliament, school principals from the region, Shire president Pam Townsend, parents and community members.

Students performed a play that told the history of the land the school was built on, and the elements of the school that exist now.

Ms Ellery thanked principal Lisa Helenius, the school leadership team, school board, P&C and the broader community.

“Rapids Landing Primary School is a dynamic, new learning environment that has already established a strong sense of community for the benefit of its students,” she said.

“Staff worked with parents even before the school opened to ensure they had a shared vision to provide students with the best opportunities, especially in the early years.”
