Nippers lap up finalcomp fun

Augusta Margaret River Times

The Margaret River Junior Surf Lifesaving Club held its final event for the year last fortnight as a test for future inter-club competitions.

Club president Aaron McRae told the Times it was the first club championship event where the nippers competed against each other to determine the club champion for each age group.

“Nippers competed in four events — surf race, board race, beach sprint, and the beach flags — and earned points for each event, determined from the position they finished,” he said.

“The club champion is decided by the nipper with the highest number of points over the four events.”

Mr McRae said the event was a rehearsal for eventually hosting a carnival with the Busselton and Smiths Beach clubs next season.
