Residents and businesses will be invited to celebrate the end of the Margaret River main street redevelopment with a street party on Friday January 29.

The Shire of Augusta-Margaret River’s Margs Street Party will see a full street closure, with businesses and vendors invited to take over the strip for an afternoon fiesta running until 9pm.

The party would be the first use of the new Fearn Avenue festival precinct and include stalls, music, street performances and other attractions.

Shire president Ian Earl said it was a chance to celebrate the end of a very challenging year.

“We faced a string of challenges in 2020, one of which included major works in our town centre for an 11-month period,” he said.

“We want to thank those involved for constructing it, and most importantly thank local businesses and our community for their patience throughout the year as we delivered the project.

“This is our chance to come together after the busy summer holiday period and take a fun breather.”

Events company Ahoy Management will run the event and businesses will be contacted to get involved.
