A desperate search for missing Margaret River woman Diana Van Zyl has come to a tragic end.

A land and aerial search of the area started this morning after Ms Van Zyl was reported missing on Sunday night.

The 46-year-old’s vehicle was found in forest close to the Margaret River township and it was believed she had her pet labrador with her at the time.

However, WA Police said the dog was located this morning safe and well.

Friends and family took to social media with a desperate plea for any information as to her whereabouts.

A police spokeswoman said the death was not suspicious and officers would prepare a report for the Coroner.
