Local firefighters brought a suspicious blaze under control in just 15 minutes on Tuesday. Margaret River and Augusta Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service crews responded to a triple-0 call just before noon, with reports of a carport ablaze on The Boulevard in Margaret River. Firefighters found a trailer with a chainsaw and full jerry cans alight. The fire was quickly extinguished, but not before causing about $12,000 in damage. The cause of the fire was yet to be determined. Margaret River Police Station officer-in-charge Sgt Simone Taplin said preliminary inquiries deemed the blaze potentially suspicious.
