Artist Anita Revel’s vivid reflections on India are now on display at Sugarman in Margaret River

The exhibition Colour Me India was inspired by Revel’s trip to Rajasthan in 2017, where she was “blown away with the colours”.

“As an artist who uses a vibrant palette, India was a dream come true,” she said.

Exploring the role of colour in everyday life in India, the locally-trained artist said she learnt more about how it represented religious and cultural beliefs, social roles, and as an indicator of major festivals and celebrations.

“From my first step on Indian soil my senses were assaulted,” she said. “My eyes popped at the colour and movement, my nose itched with the myriad of smells, and my ears were overwhelmed with the cacophony of noise. It was love at first sight.”

The exhibition runs for the rest of the month.
