The Margaret River Heart is assembling a team to guide the future of the region’s new events and entertainment centre.

Applications close next Friday for 10 positions on the “sounding board” reference group which will provide feedback and suggestions to guide future activities at the Heart.

General manager Nicky Hansen said members would meet at least twice a year to workshop and “test drive” ideas.

“We’re looking for people with industry experience and expertise to provide community input,” she said.

“Our aim is to increase community engagement across all segments of the community, and we want to ensure there is diversity of skills, views and knowledge in the group to reflect the broad range of focus areas for the Heart.”

The final aim was for the reference group to include at least one representative each from backgrounds including seniors, younger residents, Aboriginal custodians, and the disability sector.

Expertise in tourism, business, the arts and culture would also be needed.

Application forms are also available from the Heart’s box office from 10am to 4pm on weekdays.
