The long-awaited Stitched and Bound exhibition of regional WA’s keenest quilters is now on display at the Margaret River Heart.

Making its local debut earlier this month, the exhibition is the 13th showcase of craft artists as part of a tour across the State’s regional galleries.

Local quilter extraordinaire Judith Wilton was among the headliners for the WA Quilters Association showcase.

The Augusta resident explored design challenges with computer technology by using a photograph within her piece Brush with Technology.

Two designs reflecting differing shapes, patterns, textures and colours from the one image were displayed in a diptych made using hand-dyed and commercial fabrics, she said.

Exhibition co-convenor Susan Sheath said many of the entries from WA’s best quilters included those who “challenged” the conventional boundaries of the medium.

“Artists are encouraged to work outside the quilt format and push the boundaries, focusing on making personal statements through the use of unconventional materials, ideas and techniques,” she said.

Stitched and Bound was on show now weekdays until late January, with closures during the festive period.
