Surf Lifesaving WA patrols back at Margaret River’s most popular beach

Beach lifeguards are back on patrol at Margaret River’s Rivermouth Beach just in time for peak summer tourism season. The Shire of Augusta-Margaret River’s contracted Surf Lifesaving WA lifeguard patrols started last Friday, and will continue daily until April 26 from 10am to 5pm. Shire recreation services manager Dylan Brown said professional lifeguards were needed at the popular beach. “Summer is here and so many people enjoy being at the beach,” Mr Brown said. “While it can be a great place to create many happy memories, the ocean environment does come with some risks. Surf Lifesaving WA’s highly-competent lifeguards are there to help manage those risks and educate the public about safe water recreation practices,” he said. “They are friendly and approachable people and are only too happy to help answer questions about beach safety.” Swimmers were advised to swim between the flags and not drink alcohol before taking to the water, with lifeguards on-site for guidance.
