Tickets released for second Strings Attached guitar festival in Margaret River

Tickets went on sale for the second Strings Attached WA guitar festival this week. Director and musician Dan White told the Times said planning a major festival during times of COVID-19 was never straight-forward, but this year’s plan would harness some of the best acts yet. “The challenge of mitigating the risks COVID-19 poses to all events large and small has forced the hand of innovation and really encouraged event organisers around the world to approach our jobs from fresh angles,” he said. “For this year’s festival, that has materialised in a local focus which really offers WA guitar players and makers an opportunity to shine, with minimal interstate involvement and more opportunities to showcase their crafts. “The festival will also utilise the many existing venues we have in Margaret River to allow us to keep crowds in any one place to under 500, helping us to give the festival the best chance of success, keep everyone safe, and enjoying the weekend program of events.” Building on the success of the 2019 premiere festival after late logistics and the difficulties caused by the pandemic saw the event on hold last year, the 2021 celebration of all things stringed would benefit from so many world-class guitarists already making WA their home. Apart from Margaret River product John Butler, performers will include Australian music royalty Josh Cunningham from The Waifs, country musician Felicity Urquhart, WA’s award-winning bass player Grace Barbé, and 12-string fingerstyle shredder Jordan Mac. More acts would be announced in coming weeks, White said. In addition to its live performances, the festival would offer the regular exhibitions and demonstrations from guitar makers, retailers, gear manufacturers and distributors, plus workshops, masterclasses and panel Q&As with artists and luthiers.
