“We love you, Margaret River”
With plenty of tourists in the area for the Easter-Anzac school holiday break, we hit the main drag to find a family visiting our home to ask what they thought of the Augusta-Margaret River region.
We found Melbournites Chandra and Thilani Hetti, and Adelaide locals Ludhara and Orion Hetti, 2, who were happy to sit down and chat about their experience.
They loved the Margaret River region, of course. They said:
“We happened to come to Perth to see my daughter’s in-laws and had heard of Margaret River but never been, so we decided to make the trip.
“This is our first time and we quite like it here. We heard about the wineries, the handcrafted woods, the cheeses, the chocolates.
“That’s what we came down for.
“We wanted to come here to see a bit of country life, the outskirts of Perth.
“During our stay, we went to places like the country life farm, the chocolate factory, we’ve seen a bit of the beach.
“We’ve really enjoyed our stay.
“The weather has been beautiful too, it is purely Australian and that is why we love it.
“It really is a beautiful town, and we would definitely come back again.
“One thing we would like to say, though, is to please put some more speed signs in for visitors.
“We didn’t know built-up areas are 50km/h here.”
