Yallingup groms hit big waves
Yallingup Boardriders Club held their first junior competition for the year on Sunday, with more than 200 spectators cheering competitors on.
Groms surfed Shallows break, which offered contestable waves all day.
The club saw a record number of junior members compete across six divisions, making use of the perfect conditions.
Kade Martin, Cruz Uroz, Cameron Spencer and Noah Bryce took out the top four spots in the novice under-10 division.
The 12-and-under Junior Girls division was held for the first time, with great reception from club members.
Ruby Eastaugh placed first, followed by Mia Martin and Demi Buxcey in second and third respectively.
Yallingup Boardriders vice president Shane Smith said he was impressed with all elements of the day.
“It was great to see so many groms at the first comp,” he said.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better day to open up the season. I was blown away with the talent on display from all division.”
The Yallingup Boardrider groms are training for a State round on Saturday, March 10 in Margaret River.
