The new name for a swathe of Margaret River’s coast was endorsed by the State Government just a day after last week’s Times report.

Yebble, to honour the Indigenous name of SS Georgette rescuer Samuel Isaacs, would run north of Surfers Point all the way to south of Gracetown.

Lands Minister Tony Buti confirmed the official news, with Yebble excised from existing localities Gracetown and Burnside.

“I am honoured to announce the creation of Yebble to rightfully recognise Mr Samuel Isaacs for his part in this historic event in Margaret River,” he said.

“Aboriginal naming provides a gateway to respect, acknowledge and promote Aboriginal people’s connection to the land.”
