St Mary’s Anglican Church will celebrate a major milestone later this year.

Planning for the building began in 1841 and construction was completed in 1948.

In November, the church will celebrate its 170th anniversary.

Retired Bishop Tom Wilmot was a rector for the church and a driving force behind the establishment of Georgiana Molloy Anglican School.

He will hold a combined celebration Eucharist followed by morning tea on November 4.

A long table anniversary dinner will be held at St Mary’s Family Centre on Queen Street on Saturday, November 3, from 6.30pm.

The event will include canapes, a two-course meal, guest speakers and entertainment.

Tickets are $45 each and go on sale on September 25.

Phone the parish office on 9754 3775 to book.
