EVENT HELPS COLLEAGUE

Busselton police will hold a quiz night next weekend to raise money for the Police Family Assistance Council to assist it in supporting the family of local police officer Tim Concannon.

Sen. Const Concannon’s wife Nina has brain cancer, with the family’s medical bills piling up to more than $120,000 — money the family is struggling to pay. Sen. Sgt Manus Walsh said Sen. Const Concannon had served the local community for many years and needed desperate help.

“All money raised will go to them,” he said.

“It will be a great night with spot prizes, auctions, raffles and other activities which will run alongside the quiz itself.

“There will be nibbles for each table, a licensed bar, and some live music,” he said. PFAC was formed almost 45 years ago to assist police officers and their families during hard times.

The quiz night fundraiser will see the Busselton police aim to do their part to assist their fellow officer.

Sen. Sgt Walsh urged people to donate to the cause, no matter how big or small the amount they could give.

“By donating something, it will enable PFAC to provide ongoing financial support and protection to police officers and their families who are in desperate need of help,” he said.

Sen. Const Concannon’s situation has prompted Busselton police to support the Busselton Blue Family Association, which exists to promote similar initiatives to PFAC to assist local officers in traumatic situations. Quiz night tickets can be bought by calling the station on 9754 9555.
