Talented field to contest Malibu classic
Longboarders return to the waves for the annual Yallingup Malibu Classic this weekend at Yallingup Main Break.
Hosted by the Indian Ocean Longboard Club, the competition is in its 34th year and marks the end of the 2018 WA longboard season.
This year’s competition consists of 13 divisions, including a teams event, open eight-footer division, under-18 junior male and female, and open logger.
Past winners include Justin Redman, brother of professional surfer Melanie Redman-Carr, who in 2016 won the open division for the 11th time.
Two-time Australian champion Georgia Young, from Cottesloe, won last year’s open women’s division, Dunsborough’s Jarryd Foster was the open men’s kkwinner, and best wipeout went to Margaret River’s Doug Carruthers. The competition will be held tomorrow and on Sun-day.
