Tourism champions recognised
Busselton Jetty tour guide Warren Graham and Pullman Bunker Bay conference and events sales manager Zac Leach were recognised for their contributions to the region at the WA Tourism Awards last week.
Mr Graham was a finalist for the Sir David Brand young achiever medal and Mr Leach was nominated for the individual excellence in customer service award.
Nominees were recognised for their personal and professional achievements and contribution to the WA tourism sector.
Busselton Jetty chief executive Lisa Shreeve said Mr Graham was instrumental in spearheading a virtual reality tour of the jetty’s Underwater Observatory to entice tourists during the winter months.
His initiative helped increase the number of visitors to the jetty to more than half a million last year.
“Warren’s passion is infectious and leaves visitors and colleagues with an excitement for the marine world beneath the jetty,” she said.
Pullman general manger Leighton Yates said Mr Leach was nominated for his “genuine and authentic character”.
“Anyone who has been fortunate to have come in contact with Zac will testify,” he said.
Mr Leach thanked his colleagues and clients for their recognition.
The business tourism awards night will be held on September 20 at Little Creatures in Fremantle, followed by the 2018 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards Gala Night on November 10.
