Coronavirus crisis: Zero local COVID cases overnight for WA

WA has today recorded one new COVID-positive case after a returned traveller arrived from overseas.

The Health Department is now monitoring seven active cases — with one patient in a stable condition in hospital.

Meanwhile, NSW recorded 111 new coronavirus cases.

Eighteen people are currently in ICU.

WA’s border to Victoria has also been strengthened following the spread of the virus.

From midnight last night, Victorians were hit with a hard border which will prevent them from travelling to WA without a G2G exemption.

Those allowed in must self-quarantine for 14 days. If no suitable accommodation is identified, travellers will have to endure a fortnight in hotel quarantine at their own expense.

Travellers from South Australia who have visited an exposure site must get tested within 48 hours of arrival into WA, quarantine for 14 days and get tested on day 11.

There is also health advice for travellers who have entered WA from Tasmania after a person who visited public sites tested positive for COVID-19 two days after arriving in London.

WA recorded 1422 COVID tests at State-run clinics yesterday.

To date, the State has seen 37 cases of the highly-infectious Delta variant.
