LATEST COVID-19 DEVELOPMENTS:

* The Commonwealth will send an extra 200,000 Pfizer vaccine doses to NSW this week.

* The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) issued a statement saying all people aged 18 years and above in greater Sydney "should strongly consider getting vaccinated with any available vaccine including COVID-19 vaccine AstraZeneca".

* NSW recorded 163 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, of which 71 were infectious in the community for some or all of their infectious period.

* The new cases were mainly in the southwest Sydney areas of Fairfield, Canterbury-Bankstown, Cumberland, Blacktown and Liverpool.

* There was another death in NSW, a man in his 80s, bringing the total deaths in the state's current outbreak to six.

* Health minister Brad Hazzard repeated Premier Gladys Berejiklian's plea for other states to send Pfizer vaccines to NSW but this time scolded his interstate counterparts for not helping in his state's hour of need.

* Thousands of angry, unmasked people defied stay-at-home orders to protest against coronavirus restrictions in Sydney and Melbourne, with smaller demonstrations in Brisbane and Adelaide.

* Protesters massing in Sydney and Melbourne against lockdowns were putting lives at risk, Australia's deputy chief medical officer said.

* A special strike force of detectives will analyse footage from social media, CCTV and police-worn body cameras to identify and punish those who took part in Sydney.

* Victoria recorded 12 new virus cases on Saturday, all linked to the current outbreak and of which 10 were in quarantine throughout their infectious period.

* Victorian health minister Martin Foley hosed down the idea of tensions with NSW over a lack of willingness to redirect vaccines to Sydney's virus-ridden suburbs.

* Victorian health authorities have said the state's progress at driving down infections is "very encouraging" but Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton could not yet guarantee whether lockdown restrictions would ease come Tuesday.

* South Australia reported one new COVID-19 case in its latest outbreak and remains on track to end its lockdown on Tuesday.

* A webcam has been set up over Adelaide's largest drive-through COVID-19 testing site to help manage the high volume of people queueing for swabs.

* Prime Minister Scott Morrison hailed a record day of jabs on Saturday, saying Australia was on track to have administered 11 million vaccination doses.

AUSTRALIAN VACCINATION NUMBERS:

* There have been 11,032,835 doses administered in the national COVID-19 vaccination rollout up to Friday, including 181,842 in the previous 24 hours.

* Of the total, 6,238,396 have been administered by the Commonwealth (an increase of 105,577 in the previous 24 hours).

* 5,738,860 have been issued in primary care (+100,931) and 499,536 in aged and disability facilities (+4646).

* 4,794,439 have been administered by the states and territories, including 76,265 in the previous 24 hours.

* 1,496,784 have been administered in Victoria (+21,933), 1,309,786 in NSW (+25,312), 840,306 in Queensland (+12,582), 443,222 in Western Australia (+6525), 350,353 in South Australia (+6026), 150,033 in Tasmania (+1658), 120,987 in the ACT (2229) and 82,968 in the NT (+0).

AUSTRALIAN CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* Australia reported 176 local cases on Saturday: 163 in NSW, 12 in Victoria and one in South Australia.

* There was one new overseas-acquired cases in hotel quarantine in NSW.

* The national death toll is 917: Victoria 820, NSW 63, Tasmania 13, WA 9, Queensland 7, SA 4, ACT 3 (Two Queensland residents who died in NSW have been included in the official tolls of both states).

GLOBAL CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* Cases: at least 193,165,622

* Deaths: at least 4,143,105

* Vaccine doses administered: at least 3,785,901,984.
