Butler Crash: Mitchell Freeway northbound near Lukin Drive reopens after two people die in three-vehicle crash

Major crash detectives are investigating a horrific three-car crash which killed two people on the Mitchell Freeway. It is understood a male driver and another woman — from separate vehicles — died following the collision which occurred at 11.25pm on Sunday in Butler. The female died at the scene while the male driver was pronounced dead at hospital. A WA Police spokeswoman said the crash occurred in the northbound lanes of the freeway near the Lukin Drive exit. “WA Police, The Department of Fire and Emergency Services and St John WA attended the scene,” she said. Shocking photos taken of the aftermath show what appears to be the front of a white car extensively damaged. Debris from the cars involved were strewn across the freeway in the images. Emergency services were forced to close the northbound lanes of the freeway late on Sunday. Officers from the major crash investigation section are working to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
