A Perth father has relived the horrifying moment he was hit over the head with a metal baseball bat and dragged out of his car in a violent road rage attack on his drive to work.

Isaac Ladha, aged in his 40s, told 7NEWS that first responders thought they were “losing him” after a bloodied attack unfolded in Success on Wednesday afternoon.

Mr Ladha said he was behind the wheel of his Holden Cruze sedan when the driver of a Toyota Camry — positioned behind him — started aggressively beeping at a set of traffic lights on Beeliar Drive near Hammond Road about 2pm.

Police said the Camry driver then overtook Mr Ladha’s car before boxing him in position.

“He opened his boot . . . and took (out) a big metal baseball bat,” Mr Ladha told 7NEWS.

“While I’m trying to get my mobile phone to record it, straight away he hit me with the baseball bat on my eyes.

“It was all black, I could only see with one eye. I was trying to look for help or something. He dragged me out of the car by my neck and dragged me on the road.

“He came back and hit me again on my rib with a baseball bat, and on my head again a second time.

“Straight away I went unconscious.”

Fremantle Detectives have charged a 46-year-old man with assault occasioning bodily harm after he was arrested in Hammond Park shortly after the attack.

A WA Police spokesperson said the incident appeared to be “isolated” and that there was “no ongoing concerns for community safety” with the man currently on bail.

Mr Ladha and the accused attacker are unknown to each other.

Mr Ladha said he hoped to reconnect and personally thank a woman who rushed to his aid as he was left bloodied on the floor.

“She was trying to make me talk so I did not lose consciousness . . . the minute I stopped, I could hear her say ‘we’re losing him, we’re losing him’,” he said.

“She took my head, she put it on her thigh . . . she was right here next to me.”

He said other drivers apologised to him as he was being wheeled into an ambulance because they were too scared to intervene.

Mr Ladha is expected to be discharged from hospital this week.

The accused is listed to appear in court on August 11.
