A man who allegedly assaulted and held a couple at gunpoint in a botched home invasion was part of an organised crime ring.

Police say the 21-year-old man and an associate forced entry into the Condell Park unit on April 21.

A resident of the home, a 60-year-old man, was allegedly assaulted while another man demanded information from him.

That man and a 57-year-old woman were then held in a room at gunpoint.

Detectives were later able to identify the 21-year-old man during an investigation into the supply of stolen vehicles used by organised crime networks.

He will face the court on Friday.
