Royal Life Saving has relaunched the Summer Drowning Toll to raise awareness of drowning risks this summer.

Last year, 123 people drowned in summer, most in rivers, beaches and swimming pools in the Christmas and new year period.

Meanwhile in WA, 2018 had the highest number of fatal drownings involving youth recorded in the past five years.

Royal Life Saving urges adults to supervise children at all times, wear a lifejacket while on a boat, and avoid alcohol and drugs around water.
