Dementia Australia is visiting a Peel shire this month to help educate and provide support for people living with dementia, their carers, family, and friends.

The group will be running two sessions later this month in the Shire of Waroona hosted by the Waroona Community Resource Centre.

The first session will be on understating dementia that will run on Monday from 10.30am to 1pm, will aim to help residents better understand the different types of dementia, their diagnosis, planning for the future and how to support those living with dementia.

The second session will explore communication and dementia on April 23 from 10am to 12.30pm, and will provide further information on dementia and how communication can change as a result of dementia.

Dementia Australia states there are more than 40,500 people are currently living with dementia in WA, with this number is expected to increase to 87,000 without any kind of medical breakthrough by 2054.
