A construction project at the Manjimup St John Ambulance sub-centre has finished and is aimed at providing more convenience for its volunteers.

The accommodation building has been in construction for about 2.5 years and includes two bedrooms, enough to comfortably house four volunteers.

The hope of the project is to provide temporary accommodation for volunteers that lived further out of town.

Manjimup St John Ambulance EMT Kelsie Collins said the new building would hopefully entice volunteers who lived outside of town, to consider joining.

“It will also be good for visiting volunteers who come and support or relieve us from Bunbury during events,” she said.

“We will be having an official opening at a later date.”

There is potential scope to also locate a patient transfer crew at the building, so volunteers — on a roster — could more easily be on hand to transfer people to Bunbury.

The project involved local contractors, including Bachos Custom Builders.

Ms Collins encouraged people to find out more about becoming a St John Ambulance volunteer by calling 9771 1374 or visiting the sub-centre’s Facebook page.
