Warren Blackwood Bombers players Lacey Holdsworth and Holly Gill have been selected to attend five training sessions with the West Coast Eagles’ Next Generation Academy.

Gill and Holdsworth have already completed two of the training sessions, held at the West Coast’s Mineral Resources Park training ground in Lathlain.

The sessions are in preparation for the 2020 Rogers Cup, contested by junior WAFLW sides.

This is the first program at this level that Holdsworth has been a part of and she said she had picked up skills and knowledge she had not been exposed to before.

Coach Shelley Scott said the selection was a credit to the girls’ commitment to women’s football.

“We are really proud that their skill set and football knowledge has been recognised by the academy,” she said.

“It is great that they get to experience the Eagles training facilities and receive coaching from West Coast staff.

“Hopefully it can lead to further opportunities for them.”

Holdsworth said she would like to turn football into a career after she completes high school.

She started her football career with the Bridgetown Bulldogs Junior Football Club, before moving to the Warren Blackwood Bombers.

Holdsworth said she was glad to have been selected for the Eagles camp, as she is a loyal fan of the club.
