Rotary riders will help out for health causes
Manjimup Rotary Club members put their hands up with a financial donation to support fellow South West Rotary members as they embarked on a 1000km bike ride for a good cause last week.
The inaugural ride for the club is being used to raise money for SolarisCare and Australian Rotary Health.
Riders are South Bunbury Rotary Club president elect Tony Critchley and member David Castro.
Stopping in Manjimup on Monday night, the Manjimup Rotary Club donated about $2500 towards the cause.
“This is something we’d like to do every year,” Mr Castro said.
“We hope if it’s a success, it’ll be an annual fundraising event for South Bunbury.”
Mr Critchley said if it became an annual event, Manjimup would be one of the main stops.
Manjimup Rotary Club’s president elect Alex Alban joined the riders on an 83km stretch on Sunday from Nannup to Bridgetown.
“The big hill out of Nannup towards Bridgetown was tough,” Mr Castro said.
He added that he and Mr Critchley wanted to cover 70km a day for 15 days.
After starting in Bunbury, they are heading through towns such as Busselton, Margaret River, Manjimup and Albany, before heading back to Bunbury.
To donate money the details are: Bankwest, BSB 306-020, account number 4185004 and reference Solaris plus a surname.
