School staff record major milestones

Kearnan College has had two staff members celebrate 25 years of employment with the school in the past month

Kim Brotherton and Suzzanne Cully started within weeks of each other, Suzzanne as an educational assistant and Kim in administration.

Both Suzzanne and Kim agreed that seeing the change in the school’s students as they progressed was amazing.

“I think it would just be this whole spectrum of children with spongy brains, who just want to learn and they come here so young and they leave as adults,” Suzzanne said.

“You just see that blossoming and that maturity and the strength of the person that they are.”

Kim said her favourite part of her job has been the range of students, teachers and principals she’s met over her years at the school.

“I think that’s the part I enjoy most, because you change over, people come in, people leave, same with the students,” she said.

We are getting students now, their parents were students when I was here, so it’s amazing to see that.” Principal Carol Guerts paid tribute to Suzzanne and Kim’s contribution to the school.

“I just want to acknowledge and congratulate Suzzanne and Kim for their accomplishing 25 years of loyal service to Kearnan College,” she said.

“Catholic Education WA and the Kearnan Community are grateful to them both for their outstanding effort over the past 25 years.

“Their work continues to be very much valued and appreciated by all of us here, we would be lost without their skills, talents and contribution to our college.”
