Manjimup Senior High School is celebrating the hard work of its students following the 2019 Year 12s’ exemplary ATAR results.

Last year was the second year in a row Manjimup Senior High School was identified as a school which had the highest performing Year 12 students in the subjects of English and geography.

Principal Kerry Mather said the results were a culmination of various factors during secondary schooling years.

“It’s about the teaching practices — the ability to work collaboratively with other schools,” she said.

“We also work hard to appropriately prepare our students for WACE exams.”

Ms Mather said the school had performed really well in 2019.

“We had a 99 per cent attainment, which means 99 per cent of our students either achieved a Certificate II or an ATAR above 55,” she said.

“Ten of our students received School Curriculum and Standards Authority awards in recognition of achievement across Year 11 and 12.”

The 2019 Year 12 ATAR Dux, Joel Karafiles, achieved an ATAR of 99.30 and VET Dux Ashlyn Turner achieved a Certificate of Distinction.

A total of 18 students also completed the University Preparation Course, which allowed them alternate entry into university.

“That program is a partnership with Edith Cowan University,” Ms Mather said.

There was also a 99 per cent completion rate of 2019 Year 12 Manjimup Senior High School students who took VET classes.
